Confidence Comes From Wellbeing

Updated: Oct 23, 2019

I wonder how easy it would be to do yoga on a beach? Worth a try! Ahh, the sound of ocean waves.

Confidence is highly sought after by many of us. We spend a great amount of time & money trying to gaining more of it, but it seems fleeting. Reading hundreds of tips, implementing a few, and finding what works for us can be a challenge. As one can find out quickly, confidence is beyond the tips. It comes from the inside. A trust in yourself, upholding your values, and getting to know who you are. Confidence is what happens when you know, like, and trust yourself! Sound familiar? (~cough~ Marketing! ~cough~)

Confidence is what happens when you know, like, and trust yourself!

Why Do We Want Confidence?

Taking action to do the things that help us thrive is what motivates & drives us. Action requires effort & purpose. Having confidence helps us with:

  • Making decisions

  • Being less risk averse

  • Managing stress

  • Transforming vulnerability

  • Opening up & recognizing opportunity

  • Connecting with & inspiring others

  • Giving permission to our potential

  • Trying new things

  • ... and MANY more!

This doesn't just work in today's world, but WAY back. Confidence helps us to be able to add value not just to ourselves, but to our tribe. It's closely tied to survival, our most basic need.

How Does Wellbeing Play a Role?

When we were a valued member of the tribe, we had the safety, knowledge, support, trust, etc of our tribe, and therefore our chance of surviving was much greater. Relatively recent conversation around health likes to focus on diet & exercise. It's important, but only a piece of the puzzle. Holistic health includes mind, body, and spirit. Sometimes I like to put environment in there as well to include the feedback we get that helps piece together our experience.

They all work together to build your reality. Practicing habits that sustain you, make you feel valued, showcase your skills & character, and allow you to appropriately assess yourself, are great ways to build self-awareness, self-worth, and self-belief.

What Can I Do To Start?

Start with learning how to look after yourself through a holistic health approach. Go beyond the diet & exercise body-dialog & learn about your mind & spirit too. Many of the things we talk about relate to your mind. Personally, I'm just rediscovering my spiritual side because I tried to hide it away for so long. Being spiritual is not the same as being religious, but it can be. You get to decide.

To get a feel for other aspects of your health, start by asking yourself these questions and any more you may think of: MIND

  • Why do I do what I do?

  • How am I feeling?

  • What do I value?

  • What are my priorities?

  • Who am I in different situations?

SPIRIT

  • What do you believe?

  • How do you think?

  • What rituals do you have?

  • How do I contribute outside of myself?

  • What is my gut/intuition telling me?

Next Week - Holistic Health I think you're ready for it. You've grown so much since I was saying hello that I think you understand where I'm going with health relating to high performance. Next week I want to share my formula for holistic health. It's called the BEDMAS of Wellnessâ„¢ formula! Do YOU feel more confident when you look after yourself? Use the hashtag #BEDMASlife on social media!
